where the hack word comes from
in the old days ‘hack’ was a good thing
but as you know most people thing it means bad things
‘hack’ means to chop at but to do it badly originally. one ‘hacks at’ brush trying to clear it away
but then some guys at mit, a long time ago, thought about ‘clear away’ meaning to make the code better by removing instructions
so ‘hacking’ meant to them: clearing away unnecessary code
